The BASLP course (Bachelor in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology) is globally recognized and is a professional title.

It is best for students who are seeking to broaden their horizons and gain an understanding of human speech and hearing function.

BASLP course shall not only provide you with a broader understanding of human speech and hearing, but also help you become a compassionate person.

Students and applicants(12th passed) are invited for admission to the IHS BASLP course to start their careers as a doctor and serve society.

The candidates who passed out with the science stream can apply for the BASLP course for which NEET is not required.

The student is, however, required to qualify for the IMAT to get admission to the BASLP course.

What is IMAT?

IMAT 2023 is a medical entrance exam comprising a score of 200. It is especially important for gaining admission to the medical rehabilitation undergraduate BPT program as well as the BASLP program

Candidates who qualify for this examination can apply for admission to the IHS (Institute of Health Sciences) directly to the BASLP course.

Why are students taking an interest in the BASLP course?

With the rise in competition in India, courses that can provide guaranteed jobs are highly demanded. The BASLP course is one such course as it can get you a job easily as a clinical supervisor, audiology, speech-language pathologist, and so on.

Even when you look at the stats, there is a huge demand for good audiologists and speech-language pathologists (SLP), as the number of patients is increasing.

India needs to train more BASLP professionals to serve around 50 million people with speech or hearing issues or defects.

Today, the total number of SLP as in India is growing enormously. Currently, there are around 5000 SLP as, out of which around 2500+ are registered audiologists. 

These figures are insufficient to meet the needs of the 63 million people who have significant hearing issues.

BASLP Course Eligibility

To apply for the BASLP course, the candidate has to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • He or she must have completed the 12th or equivalent examination with a minimum
  • of 50% marks. (5% relaxation is given to the reserved
  • category).
  • Those awaiting their final year results can also apply for the BASLP course.
  • The compulsory subjects in the 12th should be physics, chemistry, and biology.
  • The age should be between 17 to 25 years.
  • Qualifying for the IMAT 2023 is mandatory.

  • A BASLP professional treats patients with hearing and

speech disorders to ease communication with others.

  • They utilize technical knowledge effectively for people to help them socialize and allow them to face daily life activities.
  • They perform tests and identify the cause of hearing and speech disorders.
  • After gaining some years of experience, they assist and train  the junior SLAPs and audiologists.
  • They monitor the progress of the patients and prepare a detailed report on overall treatment, tests performed, progress, etc.
