Institute of Health Sciences, a pioneer institute in the state of Odisha, is a unit of Margdarsi, a non- government, non-profit charitable society that was established in 1999 by a group of benevolent people. IHS offers Allied Health Science Courses and is dedicated to the welfare of the persons with disability, rehabilitation services and education in health sciences in Odisha. It has the distinction of creating comprehensive treatment facility for those having all kinds of communication disorders, Institute of Health Sciences is providing unique degree courses of rehabilitation sciences viz. " Bachelor in Physiotherapy" (BPT) and "Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology "(BASLP) and Master in Rehabilitation Sciences in the state of Odisha. The courses are recognised by Government of Odisha, affiliated to Utkal University and approved by Rehabilitation Council of India , New Delhi. Within the first decade of its existence, IHS had earned many recognitions and appreciations for incredible performance, dedication towards the profession and the society.

Meet Our Founder
Prof. Satya Mahapatra has worked as an Audiologist in various medical colleges, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and industries focusing on occupational health sciencs across India.
He enjoys teaching speech pathology at medical colleges and various training programs. In 1995, he founded Margdarsi, a non-profit organization dedicated to medical rehabilitation for disabilities. He also established a premier teaching institute in Odisha for medical Rehabilitation Education in 1999, attracting students nationwide with its unique clinical and academic programs.
Prof. Satya Mahapatra established the model center for children with special needs and integrated Rehabilitation center for chronic neurological and musculoskeltal disorders. Aditionally, he founded schools for Autism, Brain Fitness, Mental Health Clincs and Aditi Integrated School to promote girl child education among socio economically deprived populations. He is also a publisher and chief editor of several professional research journals and has organized numerous national and international events for the advancement of rehabilitation sciences. Prof. Satya Mahapatra is particularly passionate about treating Neurodevelopmental disorders like Autism, Learning Disorders and communication disorders such as stuttering.
Foster partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and corporate partners to maximize impact and reach a wider audience. Continuously evaluate and adapt our programs to meet evolving community needs and address emerging challenges effectively.
