Sexual Harassment Cell

In India, the legislation regarding this is the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act). As a result of the Act, women are protected at work from sexual harassment. Furthermore, it provides for preventing and redressing complaints of sexual harassment. The right to education is now a fundamental right. Therefore Universities and colleges should have policies in place that define what constitutes sexual harassment, to what degree such behavior is prohibited, what steps to take if harassment takes place and methods for prevention. If your institution has failed to protect you from harassment and abuse, contact the authorities so that authorities can help to take action against inappropriate behavior that have made your academic career difficult and intimidating. Under the recommendations of the Raghavan Committee, all government and private educational establishments are required to have a sexual harassment committee/cell.
